Sofia Hayat Pakistani Actress

Sofia Hayat is a British Asian actress, singer and model. Hayat hails from the UK and is of Pakistani heritage. She has worked on both British and Indian projects.
Hayat first came to public attention on Sky Channel, Zee TV, where she hosted her own TV show for 3 years starting in 2000. The show became a cult favourite amongst young British Asians. Later, Hayat was in the UK TV talent show Bollywood Star, in which she lost out on the first prize by about 3 places.

Sofia started acting and singing from a very young age. She has a level in theater studies and a Ba Hons degree in performing arts and music. Her family did not want her to study the arts so she was disowned.

She came from a strict Muslim background and lost her family because they did not agree with her choice of career. Sofia has studied Budhism and believes that all races and religions are equal.Because she was abandoned by her family, she has become a strong, independent woman who at times can be vulnerable.

Sofia has started work on a new film: I don't want to marry Shah Rukh Khan. The film is her brainchild and is being developed with producer Christine Edwards and is based on an Asian family forcing their daughter to do an arranged marriage against her will.
